Problems and Solutions for the Flood Control Program in Medan City and its Surroundings

Medan City is currently experiencing flooding and this indicates all existing flood control projects implemented over the years have been unsuccessful. Therefore, main objective of research to determine best solution overcome floods in city through a literature study supplemented by perception survey. The steps include discovering causes flood, determining failure past projects, disclosing people affected toward government’s commitment, formulating flood. It was discovered that there are two kinds which flash/river local/residence floods. flash type caused deforestation upstream area rivers flowing while local associated with high rainfall, lack pervious area, poor urban stormwater management.
